Matt Cave

Asheville
Matt Cave is a creative director and contemporary visual artist making mixed-media paintings to express invisible things – music, creativity, psychology, ego, metaphysical, vibes & fictional characters. Cave's creative journey began in 1990 when he worked at an indie record shop in Maryland. While there, he was turned on to post-punk and alternative rock bands like The Cure, Pixies, Bauhaus, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie Sioux, Joy Division, Bjork, Beck, Nirvana, Janes Addiction, The Smiths, & Love and Rockets. The spark created at that time has led to a long career designing identities, packaging and digital things for a wide range of brands. He was born in 1973 and raised in a small town in southern Maryland. After 29 long years spent living in South Florida, he now lives in Asheville with his fiancé, Julie and their dogs Romeo & Jax. When not designing or making mixed media art, he can be found outdoors hiking, biking & exploring the Western North Carolina region.
